Jetpooling

The private jet equivalent of carpooling.

Reporting on the launch of CoGoJets - an online jetpooling network – The Atlanta Journal-Constitution quoted Joe Leader, president of the Air Taxi Association: ”Given the crunch in the economy, ‘it seems a logical step that people would want to share their jet travel.’”

Of course, the most notorious failure to jetpool took place in November 2008, when executives from Detroit’s Big Three flew into Washington on individual private jets to beg for federal funding. This prompted Representative Gary L. Ackerman, Democrat of New York, to ask:

Couldn’t you all have downgraded to first class or jet-pooled, or something, to get here? It would have at least sent a message that you do get it.
